From super heroes saving the world to electric vehicle charging saving the world

Kempower CEO, Tomi Ristimäki, believes electric vehicles are the future in commercial fleets, off-highway machinery, public transport, and passenger cars.

“As a kid I was a huge fan of super heroes saving the world. Comics are a fantasy but the spark of saving the world remained in me. Now, as a grown-up, I am in a position where I can switch from fantasy to real life and do my part in saving the world: I’m leading a company with a vision to revolutionize electric vehicle charging. And this is how we at Kempower do it:”

“Electrification is moving forward at an incredible speed. You see off-highway and commercial vehicles switching to electric at ports, airports, mines, and tunnels, for example. Currently, the use of electric vehicles in these segments is growing most rapidly. Furthermore, the number of electric cars will increase drastically in the future,” states Tomi Ristimäki.

“Kempower’s vision is to be the market leader in modular and adjustable fast charging applications and solutions. We are going to disrupt the norms of the current fast charging market. Our philosophy is to develop fast charging solutions that fit to any standard or any vehicle on the market. Whether you have an electric passenger car, a commercial electric vehicle, or an off-highway electric vehicle, you can use Kempower charging solutions,” Tomi concludes.

Enabling fast charging infrastructure for electric passenger cars (EVs, electric vehicles)

“It’s clear to us that the world of electric passenger vehicles is already here. What Kempower offers is modular, adjustable charging solutions to meet the rapidly increasing charging demand a solution with which you can scale up the charging power as the business grows and the need for fast charging increases,” Tomi explains.

“We can offer charging stations for one single parking place with one central charging power unit and multiple satellite charging terminals. With a Kempower solution, there is no need to install chargers at different parking spots. Instead, you can create a modular and scalable system.”

“Our aim is to enable fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and our focus is on fast chargers rather than slow domestic charging. We believe that fast charging is the main way to charge in the future. In our vision, we will see fast charging stations in new surroundings where people need to stop anyway – for example, at coffee shops, shopping malls, business centers, and grocery stores. We will be changing our routes for sure – I don’t know how quickly this will happen, but I’m convinced this will happen.”

Commercial & off-highway vehicles: Move more cargo in the same area with lower emissions and a bigger electric fleet

“If you have an industrial property, an airport, or a mine, where you have machines running with diesel, you should consider the option of switching to electric vehicles, especially in regard to machines operating inside a factory, a warehouse, a tunnel, or a mine. You should avoid using vehicles with combustion engines inside buildings or underground spaces because their exhaust gases discharge into the air people breathe.”

“Loading applications are good examples of this. Very often, the loading or the warehouse work is carried out with diesel machines inside a building. With electricity, you can reduce emissions – both exhaust and noise – and improve occupational safety and health. In addition, you gain costs savings in ventilation in any application in closed space.”

“In industrial uses, you will continuously be able to reap the benefits of using electric machines and vehicles. For example, in a port or at an airport, there may be strict emission control with strict emission limits. When you switch from combustion engines to electric motors, you will be able to move more cargo in the same area with a bigger fleet, since your emissions decrease dramatically.”

“In mining, the biggest single cost relates to the ventilation and air conditioning. This is something that we can change with the use of electric vehicles and machines. Investment into electrification will pay back very quickly.”

In cities, the biggest driver towards electric transport is health and well-being

“Emissions, air quality, and noise are a big problem in big cities around the world. Public transport is in the hands of politicians: the payback time for switching public transport to electric is not as fast as in industrial cases, but we are talking about a crucial factor – people’s health.”

“I think some metropoles in the world are already horrible places to live in. The pollution that you have in big cities is life-threatening. By enabling a fast charging infrastructure, Kempower is helping to accelerate change toward electrification, and this will have a positive effect on people’s well-being.”

“Our charging solutions are suited to any standard or any vehicle on the market. Whether you have an electric passenger car, a bus, or a commercial vehicle, you can use Kempower charging solutions. If, for example, you have an electric bus that you charge with a Kempower charger, once the bus is charged, you will then be able to charge two electric street sweepers, and after that you will be able to charge some electric cars. Kempower modular technology makes this possible: it can dynamically distribute the power to different spots. In addition to an intuitive and user-friendly 7-in. touch screen, our chargers have a cloud-based service for wireless software updates and superior data management. We continually monitor the user experience and are proactive in consistently delivering the best experience possible.”

“Our team has a clear goal: to do our part in utilizing our technological know-how to save the world. At the same time, we are also making people happy and cutting costs. I’ll be happy to discuss Kempower solutions in more depth with you and show you how, together, we can help transform the world into electric.”
