Autoliitto opens its first public charging station with Kempower technology in Iittala, Finland

Autoliitto, the Automobile and Touring Club of Finland, opens its first public charging station in Iittala, Finland. Autoliitto is going to build a nationwide EV public charging network in Finland with plans to open around 20 stations by the end of 2023. The charging station in Iittala is the network’s first pilot station, where their new concept is being tested.

The pilot charging station has a total of four charging points equipped with CCS2 connectors. It consists of a 100 kW Kempower Station Charger with a double outlet connected to a Kempower Satellite with a double outlet.

“During spring 2023, we will open new charging stations in, for example, Orivesi, Kangasala, Forssa and Pello. We are aiming for a network of around 20 charging stations by the end of 2023.”

Niila Rajala, Managing Director of AL-lataus Oy, responsible for Autoliitto’s charging business

Autoliitto plans to build 80-100 charging stations in Finland during the next years. Each charging station will have 2-4 charging plugs with the possibility to add more, given Kempower’s modular and scalable charging solution. The charging network will focus on 50-100 kW fast chargers.

The charging solution and network is operated by Autoliitto’s CPO partner Virta. Autoliitto’s charging network will therefore become part of Powered by Virta, Virta’s public charging network in Finland and Europe. The charging network covers currently more than half of the Finnish public charging devices. In Europe, 350 000 charging devices are connected through roaming agreements.
