Finland’s largest high power charging hub for electric cars will be opened at Kuopio Juustoportti – 18 chargers enable smooth travel

The electrification of traffic requires significant investments in charging infrastructure for the future. The opening of the largest high power charging (HPC) hub in Finland will be celebrated at Kuopio Juustoportti traffic station on the 19th of November 2021. Recharge and Tesla have together built the HPC charging hub, where up to 18 EVs can be charged at the same time – enabling smooth travel even in the busiest hours.

On Friday the 19th of November, the City of Kuopio, Recharge, Tesla, Finnish EV Drivers’ Association, Kempower and representatives of 13 EV brands will celebrate the opening of Juustoportti’s HPC charging field in Kuopio.

Kempower has supplied the Kempower Satellite dynamic charging system to Recharge, representing part of the new HPC chargers at the Juustoportti Kuopio site.

It is great to be involved in building an extensive and reliable fast charging network in Finland. In the future, fast charging hubs will focus on locations where EV drivers can use different services while charging.  The Juustoportti HPC charging field in Kuopio is an excellent example of this development.

Tomi Ristimäki, Kempower’s CEO

We are glad to be able to partner with two great Finnish companies to provide easily accessible, fast and smooth charging experience to a rapidly growing EV community in Finland. Both in terms of location amenities and scalable high quality charging solutions. Multi-connector roadside charging hubs are needed to install confidence that fast charging experience is possible during peak traffic times as well.

Sami Saarilahti, Head of Recharge Finland

The constantly evolving high-power chargers, charging up to a hundred kilometres of range in just 5 minutes, are an important factor enabling smooth travel for EV drivers. For service providers, fast charging hubs are one of the key attractions that add value to customers. After opening the new HPC charging field, Kuopio Juustoportti will significantly help EV drivers traveling in Eastern Finland and at the same time provide them with a wide range of services.

The city of Kuopio, Recharge, Tesla, Finnish EV Drivers’ Association and representatives of 13 different EV brands attend the opening of the Juustoportti HPC charging field. EV brands joining the event include Tesla, Polestar, Autotalo Laakkonen (BMW, Opel, Mini, Mazda), Autotalo Hartikainen (MB, Peugeot, Hyundai, Citroen), K-Auto (Audi, VW), Väänänen Auto (Nissan) and Autoliike Miettinen (Skoda).
