Kempower to supply state-of-the-art solutions for new public charging location near Maui Ocean Center, Hawaii

KempowerAloha Charge, and Māʻalaea Triangle Association (MTA) are excited to announce the expansion of DC fast-charging solutions in Māʻalaea, Hawaii. Electric vehicle drivers on Maui will soon have access to fast, reliable charging with a new EV charging site expected to open in late September.

Located near a key highway junction, the new site will conveniently provide access to DC fast charging in an area where no other fast chargers are available within approximately 10 miles.

Featuring four Kempower Satellites, this site will be unique in its ability to serve all major EV plug types, including CCS1, NACS, and CHAdeMO, ensuring drivers can seamlessly power up regardless of vehicle make or model.

“Māʻalaea Triangle Association is excited to partner with Kempower to provide this state-of-the-art EV charging station in Māʻalaea,” said Tapani Vuori, MTA board member and general manager of nearby Maui Ocean Center. “This is part of our long-term strategy to do our part in supporting the green transition decarbonizing transportation and help contribute to cleaner and healthier communities.”

The site will utilize some existing infrastructure by transforming a previously developed site into a convenient charging hub, designed with EV drivers in mind, while expanding access to world-class solutions.

“Hawaii’s EV charging needs are unique, and strategic locations like Mā’alaea are essential to building a more reliable, accessible, and driver-friendly charging network,” said Jim Burness, founder and CEO of Aloha Charge and parent company National Car Charging. “We’re proud to partner with Kempower and MTA to bring flexible and innovative DC fast charging to Maui, expanding access for residents, visitors and businesses while supporting Hawaii’s continued transition to cleaner transportation.”

As Hawaii continues to electrify, reliable charging infrastructure will play a significant role. Kempower looks forward to working with Aloha Charge and MTA to make reliability a reality for EV drivers.
