A landmark in the Alps:
First Kempower Mega Satellite CCS2 in operation by Sowatt in France

Kempower, the leading DC fast-charging solutions manufacturer from Finland, and Sowatt Solutions celebrate the commissioning of France’s first Kempower Mega Satellite CCS 560 kW on the Mont-Blanc route in Vougy. This multi-energy site features one 560 kW Kempower Mega Satellite CCS for heavy-duty trucks and six 300 kW charging points for private vehicles, delivering exceptional charging performance in a key transalpine corridor. Located just before the Mont-Blanc Tunnel, it combines fuel, hydrogen, and high-power EV charging in one strategic mobility hub. This milestone sets a new benchmark for ultra-fast charging infrastructure in one of Europe’s most important routes between France and Italy.

A major milestone in Europe’s fast-charging infrastructure has been reached today as Sowatt Solutions officially commissioned France’s first Kempower Mega Satellite CCS 560 kW charging station, developed by Kempower, the leading DC charging solutions manufacturer from Finland. This groundbreaking installation, located in the breathtaking Alpine landscape on the Mont-Blanc route in Vougy, marks a new era for ultra-fast charging in both heavy-duty and light-duty mobility.

Sowatt Solutions, the charging point operator of the new EV charging site, highlighted the importance of offering a comprehensive mobility ecosystem for all users.

Our carbon ambition meets the needs of both trucks and passenger cars, enabling an efficient reduction of carbon emissions from road transport,” said Emilie Forster, Director, Sowatt Solutions. “Partnering with Kempower enabled us to deliver cutting-edge charging performance in one of the most strategic and scenic corridors in Europe. This site sets a new benchmark for what mobility infrastructure can be.”

Strategically positioned on the key corridor linking France and Italy, just before the renowned Mont-Blanc Tunnel, the new site stands out not only for its technological capability but also for its exceptional setting—nestled between mountains and clouds at the gateway to one of Europe’s busiest and most polluted transalpine routes. This route concentrates pollution and encounters severe pollution peaks, which can forbid Euro 4 truck to go through Italy. Designed to address this issue, this next-generation mobility hub features a 560 kW Kempower Mega Satellite CCS charger dedicated to heavy-duty trucks, enabling unprecedented charging speeds for long-haul electric transport. Complementing this are three dual-satellite 300 kW double-armed Kempower Satellites, providing six high-power charging points for private vehicles, ensuring rapid and efficient charging even during peak travel periods.

More than a charging station, the site has been designed as a true multi-energy station, offering fuel, hydrogen, and electricity all in one location but also services. This makes it a pioneering example of how traditional and new-energy mobility solutions can coexist to support a seamless transition toward cleaner transport.

“Commissioning the first Kempower Mega Satellite in France is a major achievement for the region,” said Pierre Gau, Sales Director Western Europe at Kempower. “This station embodies the future of high-power charging: scalable, versatile, and designed for both commercial fleets and private drivers. We’re proud to support Sowatt Solutions in bringing this flagship installation to life in such an iconic location.”

With its combination of strategic positioning, state-of-the-art technology, and multi-energy offering, the Vougy Mont-Blanc station is set to become a flagship example of Europe’s charging future. This station is financed by French State as part of France 2030 program operated by ADEME.
