Kempower Celebrates Revel’s West Coast Public Charging Expansion at San Francisco Ribbon Cutting

Kempower partner Revel, a leading provider in public electric vehicle fast charging in New York City, celebrated the opening of its first West Coast charging station in the Bay Area on March 24. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie cut the ribbon to officially open the site.

Located in San Francisco’s Mission District at 199 Erie St., the site features twelve chargers that reach as high as 320kW, designed and manufactured by Kempower, that are publicly accessible 24/7 to any make and model EV.

“Our mission at Revel is to bring reliable fast charging to dense urban areas where EVs can have the biggest impact on quality of life, but where charging is hardest to come by,” said Paul Suhey, co-founder and chief operating officer of Revel. “A big thank-you to Mayor Lurie and everyone who supported our Mission District ribbon cutting today. This is Revel’s first in California, but definitely not our last.”

The ribbon cutting marks the first phase of Revel’s West Coast expansion, with plans to begin construction on seven more sites across the Bay Area in the coming year – adding more than 125 new chargers in cities including San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose.

Jed Routh, Kempower VP of markets and products for North America, attended the opening of the charging station alongside San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, Paul Suhey, and Tyrone Jue, director of the San Francisco Environment Department.

“At Kempower, our mission is to make EV charging as accessible and user-friendly as possible. Seeing our chargers powering this new Revel station in San Francisco is a proud moment for our team and a step forward for sustainable urban mobility,” said Routh.

Revel’s expansion to the West Coast and our continued partnership with them demonstrates Kempower’s ongoing commitment to accelerate the e-mobility transition and expand charging infrastructure across the U.S. and North America.
