Innovative charging infrastructure for electric trucks at a major environmental services provider

The electrification of trucks is also an important contribution to achieving climate targets. The Buhck Group from Reinbek near Hamburg, a leading environmental services provider in northern Germany, has also recognized this. In order to reduce CO2 emissions, the company has purchased a total of twelve electric trucks to collect and transport waste.

Dr. Henner Buhck, Managing Partner of the Buhck Group, underlines this commitment: “It is our firm goal to convert the Buhck Group’s entire fleet of trucks to climate-neutral drive technology. Our experience with electric trucks so far has been absolutely positive.”

Electric trucks and charging infrastructure go hand in hand

But purchasing the trucks is only the first step. In order to operate the fleet, the appropriate charging infrastructure is required that is tailored to the needs of the Buhck Group. Kempower delivered and installed a total of 16 Kempower Satellites, each providing a charging capacity of up to 200 kW.

The Buhck Group also uses Kempower’s ChargEye technology. This cloud-based charging management system makes it possible to monitor and monitor the charging processes of electric trucks. The software also enables dynamic power distribution so that the trucks can be optimally loaded.

This approach is user-friendly and optimizes the efficiency of the loading processes. Markus Horstkötter, Managing Director of Buhck waste processing and recycling GmbH & Co KG, emphasizes: “We firmly believe that each of us can make a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. For us, purchasing the electric trucks was a clear case. This brings us a lot closer to our goal of becoming climate neutral by 2030.”

An easy decision

The decision in favor of the Kempower charging infrastructure was an easy one. Like the Buhck Group, Kempower is a long-term oriented company with a clear commitment to sustainability.

Markus Horstkötter explains: “Our fleets have easy-to-plan routes and stop times at night, so they are ideal for electrification. We were looking for a technology partner who could provide reliable charging infrastructure on our premises. Kempower has impressive references – the collaboration was uncomplicated and trusting.”

Kempower’s charging solutions enabled the Buhck Group to easily switch to an electric fleet. The new vehicles fit seamlessly into the existing operational processes. The limited space in a metropolitan region and the use of the existing power connection were particularly challenging in the collaboration. However, Kempower’s products are ideal for these situations thanks to their modularity and dynamic energy management.

This is evident in everyday life: Kempower’s charging infrastructure has been seamlessly integrated into work processes from the start and the charging systems are user-friendly for drivers.

Dr. Henner Buhck adds: “Coupled with this innovative charging technology that has now been put into operation, we are best equipped for the deployment and use of electric trucks today and in the future.”
