Versatile charging for electric buses
The pantograph charging system consists of a robust steel frame with a Stemmann pantograph contact, Kempower Pantograph Down Control Unit and Kempower Power Unit.
Multiple Kempower Pantographs, Satellites or other charging points can be connected to the same Kempower Power Unit. Up to 12 Pantographs or Satellites can charge simultaneously, and the power distribution can be equal or prioritized. This dynamic power distribution helps to optimize the use of available power resources.
The Kempower Pantograph Down system supports up to 480 kW of charging power per output, making it ideal for overnight charging of electric buses and meeting the demanding requirements of modern electric bus fleets.
Advanced infrastructure
The Kempower Pantograph Down (also called OppCharge) has retractable pantograph arms that move up and down. The pantograph uses local wireless communication between the charging station and the bus.
A pantograph charging system consists of a grid supply, a 450 kW or 600 kW Kempower Power Unit, a pantograph cantilever frame and a current collector dome or pantograph arm assembly.
Both methods, Kempower Pantograph Up and Kempower Pantograph Down, are able to achieve power levels of 450 kW or more.

FAQ
Pantograph Down, also known as OppCharge, has retractable pantograph arms mounted on the charging station that move down onto current transfer rails on the bus rooftop. The charging sequence is automated, and the system uses local wireless communication between the charging station and the bus.
The Pantograph Down system supports up to 480 kW of charging power per output, which suits overnight charging of electric buses and the demands of modern electric bus fleets.
It comprises a grid supply, a 450 kW or 600 kW Kempower Power Unit, a pantograph cantilever frame, and a current collector dome or pantograph arm assembly. The charging system itself uses a robust steel frame with a Stemmann pantograph contact, a Kempower Pantograph Down Control Unit and a Kempower Power Unit.
Multiple Kempower Pantographs, Satellites or other charging points can be connected to the same Power Unit, with up to 12 charging simultaneously. Power distribution can be equal or prioritised, and dynamic power distribution optimises use of the available power.
With Pantograph Down the pantograph arm is mounted on the charging station and lowers onto rails on the bus roof. With Pantograph Up the arm is mounted on the bus and extends upward to a collector dome on the charging station. Both methods achieve power levels of 450 kW or more.
Yes. The automated, hands-free charging sequence and power of up to 480 kW per output make it well suited to overnight charging, giving quick turnaround times and reliable operation against demanding fleet schedules.
