Australian EV charging operator Charge Hub expands strategic partnership with Kempower as it moves into UK market
- Kempower and Charge Hub build on existing collaboration electrifying commercial fleet depots in Australia
- The partnership will deploy bus and truck charging across the UK
- The first installation projects are already underway at a number of bus depots in South London
Global DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower has expanded its sales and service partnership with Charge Hub, an Australia-founded EV charging infrastructure specialist, to bring EV charging for commercial fleets to the UK. Last year, Charge Hub launched its UK entity having identified the opportunity to support critical fleets using its end-to-end service model, established in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Kempower and Charge Hub will deliver fast charging sites for buses and trucks across the UK, with Kempower supplying its distributed charging systems as part of Charge Hub’s full turnkey solution, which also involves site design, installation, operation and maintenance of charging assets.
The first projects are already underway with a number of electrified bus depots due to be commissioned during the coming months in Bexleyheath, Croydon, Sydenham, Thamesmead and Peckham, all in South London.
The UK-focused collaboration builds on Kempower and Charge Hub’s existing collaboration in the Australian market, where the two companies have delivered 100 projects, consisting of more than 900 active connectors and a further 450 due to be installed. To date, this represents 52 MW of installed capacity and 11.8 GWh of energy delivered to vehicles with 99.4% uptime. Successful projects include the largest e-bus depots in both Western Australia and South Australia.
Charge Hub operates across both public and fleet charging, but primarily specialises in systems for commercial fleets. It offers an end-to-end solution of both hardware and software.
Rolle Nieminen, Kempower’s Head of Sales for the UK, said: “Building on our successful collaboration in Australia, we are proud to serve as Charge Hub’s hardware partner once again. We understand the importance of working with trusted partners with local know-how, so we intend to support Charge Hub in establishing its business within the UK e-mobility sector while working together to bolster charging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles.”
Paul Guy, CEO of Charge Hub, said: “The UK’s heavy vehicle transition is gaining significant momentum, so expanding to the market was a natural step for us. Having delivered major bus and truck depots in the APAC region, we look forward to combining our experience with Kempower’s market-leading infrastructure to deploy future-proof sites that support fleets to electrify.”
