Kempower becomes official EV charging partner of Hibra Design, Ireland’s leading automotive design consultancy

  • Hibra Design is Ireland’s only specialist in developing new and retrofitted electric vehicles and has named Kempower as its official charging partner
  • Kempower has supplied a fast charger to Hibra Design, to be used during the charging and testing of vehicles
  • Hibra Design will also connect its customers with Kempower to access specialist charging infrastructure tailored to their needs

The DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower is partnering with Irish vehicle development specialist, Hibra Design, to supply charging infrastructure and consultancy for its bespoke EV offering.

Hibra Design is the only automotive design engineering consultancy of its type in Ireland. It specialises in developing bespoke vehicles and vehicle systems to customer specification. Through its significant experience in powertrain development, Hibra Design also re-engineers existing combustion engine vehicles into EVs.

Hibra Design supports commercial customers across Europe, the Middle East and South Africa with complex transportation needs to transition their operations with specialist vehicles. It typically works with customers in heavy duty industries like construction, agriculture, mining, marine and aviation – hard-to-abate sectors that have traditionally contributed significantly to transport-related emissions.

Kempower will serve as Hibra Design’s official charging partner and has supplied a fast DC charger to the consultancy for use during charging and testing of its bespoke and retrofitted EVs. Hibra Design will also connect Kempower with its EV customers to give them access to charging options to accompany their vehicle purchase, allowing Hibra Design to offer a turnkey service.

Hibra Design’s founder and CEO, Michael Keane, is an experienced automotive engineer having designed electric and hybrid vehicles for Range Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar, the Williams Formula One team and the James Bond film, Spectre.

Keane said: “Our customers require a specialist, high-quality service and we are proud to be combining our automotive expertise with Kempower’s experience within the fast charging market. Hibra Design and Kempower work across the breadth of mobility sectors. Kempower has invaluable expertise in the distinct market segments we work with, so we will be able to connect our customers with market-leading, specialist charging they can have confidence in.”

Neal Gaughan, Kempower’s Business Development Manager for the UK & Ireland, said: “We are proud to be the official charging partner of Hibra Design, which has a strong commitment and ability to make complex, hard-to-abate transportation operations more sustainable. Heavy-duty and specialist charging applications often require high powers and fast speeds, something we are ready and able to deliver to Hibra Design’s customers.”
