Kempower
Power Unit

The Kempower Power Unit is a rack-style, modularly scalable converter cabinet solution using Kempower’s unique dynamic power management that delivers up to 1,200 kW of total charging power in 25 kW granularity. With a 450 kW or 600 kW Power Unit up to 12 charging plugs, Kempower Satellites or other charging dispensers, can be connected to a single Power Unit. Two Power Units can be connected in parallel for a max. power of 800 kW or 1,200 kW.

Key benefits

  • Dynamic power management

Each Kempower Power Unit features a unique Power Distribution Module that increases utilization rate, maximizing ROI.
  • Connecting a broad range of charging points

Combined with the Kempower ChargEye cloud service, you gain remote control for efficient, reliable charging.
  • Availability

Our modular cabinet design and dynamic power management feature ensure over 99% availability. Choose Kempower for smart, user-friendly and highly reliable charging, while optimizing your business.

Redundancy through modular design and power routing

In the event of a fault on a power channel or if a charging point needs servicing, the Kempower Power Unit, individual power modules or charging points can be remotely enabled or disabled.

Remotely disabling and isolating power modules and charging points for servicing allows the rest to continue operating uninterrupted, ensuring maximum uptime.

In addition, the dynamic power distribution feature ensures higher system-level redundancy.

Easy to scale up

Kempower Distributed Charging Systems are tailored to your needs. The Kempower Power Unit’s rack-style structure allows individual cabinets to be furnished with 1–4 power modules, each providing 50 kW of charging power capacity in 25 kW granularity.

With single and double-cabinets (up to 400 kW) the Power Unit can supply charging power to 1-8 charging points simultaneously.

With triple-cabinet (450 kW or 600 kW) the Power Unit can supply charging power to MORE, up to 12 charging points simultaneously.

Two Power Units can be connected in parallel for a maximum nominal power of 800 kW for double cabinets or 1,200 kW for triple cabinets.

Our modular design allows you to start with empty power module slots and easily expand as your charging power and point requirements grow. Adding more power modules and charging points, including Kempower Control Units and Satellites, is a straightforward process.

Robust design suitable for the harshest environments

The Kempower Power Unit’s modular, rack-style design allows easy expansion as your business grows.

With weatherproof construction and tested durability, it can be installed indoors or outdoors, enduring various environmental conditions, from rain to dust.

When combined with the Kempower Satellites, Pantographs and Control Units, the Power Unit unlocks limitless potential for fast-charging solutions.

Kempower Load Manager Kit

The Kempower Load Manager Kit provides a smart load balancing solution to fully utilize the available grid connection.

When the Kempower Distributed Charging System shares the grid connection with other varying electrical loads, the Load Manager Kit hardware, combined with Kempower’s ChargEye cloud solution, introduces advanced tools. These tools manage the site’s electrical load to dynamically utilize all available power for EV charging.

The Load Manager Kit measures the power consumption from the grid connection point in real time and sends the data to the ChargEye system. Based on the available power, ChargEye adjusts the charging power of all the Kempower Power Units connected to the Load Manager Kit power group.

Configured specifically for your site and its dynamic loads, the Load Manager Kit adjusts the power levels of all the charging points to match the available capacity.

FAQ

The Power Unit is a rack-style, modularly scalable converter cabinet delivering up to 1,200 kW of total charging power in 25 kW granularity. Individual cabinets take 1–4 power modules of 50 kW each. Single and double cabinets reach up to 400 kW and supply 1–8 charging points; a triple cabinet (450 kW or 600 kW) supplies up to 12 charging points. Two Power Units can be connected in parallel for a maximum of 800 kW with double cabinets or 1,200 kW with triple cabinets.

Yes. The modular design lets you start with empty power module slots and expand as your charging power and charging point requirements grow. Adding power modules and further charging points, including Kempower Control Units and Satellites, is a straightforward process.

The Power Unit, individual power modules and charging points can be remotely enabled or disabled. Isolating one for servicing lets the rest keep operating uninterrupted, which maximises uptime. Dynamic power distribution adds further system-level redundancy, and the modular cabinet design together with dynamic power management supports over 99% availability.

Each Power Unit has a Power Distribution Module that allocates charging power in 25 kW increments to wherever it is needed across the connected charging points. That raises the utilisation rate of the system, so more of the installed capacity earns its keep.

Yes. Its weatherproof construction and tested durability allow indoor or outdoor installation across varying environmental conditions, from rain to dust.

Where the charging system shares a grid connection with other varying electrical loads, the Load Manager Kit measures consumption at the grid connection point in real time and sends the data to ChargEye. ChargEye then adjusts the charging power of all Power Units in that Load Manager Kit power group to match the capacity actually available, configured specifically for your site.
