LAHTI, FINLAND – Kempower has held its first-ever Hack Day at its headquarters in Lahti, Finland, to test the cybersecurity of its software and solutions. The company will use the findings and results of the hackathon to improve its data security and privacy for customers.
Kempower invited over 30 ethical security hackers – also known as white hat hackers – to test the cybersecurity of its solutions in its inaugural Hack Day event. During the hackathon, which was organized in collaboration with Finnish insurance company LähiTapiola with support from Cloud2 Oy, Amazon Web Services, and digital transformation company Gofore, the hackers identified potential threats to Kempower’s software offerings, including its Kempower ChargEye. Kempower ChargEye is a cloud-based charging management system designed to enhance the customer experience by enabling more efficient remote control and analysis of charging points.
The results of the Hack Day revealed potential areas to enhance Kempower’s security
posture and further develop its capabilities. Kempower’s tech team has now applied the ethical hackers’ recommendations to its software and updated the company’s future roadmap to guarantee its customers the highest levels of cybersecurity and data privacy.
Reflecting on the hackathon event, Pete Nieminen, CIO of Kempower, said:
“At Kempower, cybersecurity and data privacy are the foundation of business integrity. This event was the perfect opportunity to put our high standards to the test. Our team is already examining the hackathon results and applying the necessary improvements to our software to make our solutions even more safe and secure. I thank our partners LähiTapiola, Cloud2 Oy, Amazon Web Services and Gofore for their invaluable collaboration and role in organizing such a successful day.”
Leo Niemelä, CSO of LähiTapiola, added:
“Data security is a vital element in leadership, responsibility and corporate security. It is also becoming a competitive advantage for businesses. Hack Day events and co-operation with ethical hackers will continue to grow in numbers and have an increasingly significant role in how companies are developing future data security. It was great for us to be a part of the event.”
Mikko Laakkonen, CTO at Cloud2 commented:
“This was an especially interesting exercise taking into consideration Kempower’s strong position in the market. We are proud to support Kempower in their quest for excellence in cybersecurity.
