Winterswijk, Netherlands – 26.01.2024 – Kempower, in cooperation with energy solutions provider Kenter, has realized a truck charging point for DFDS, Northern Europe’s largest shipping and logistics company, in Winterswijk, the Netherlands. As of now, the logistics location offers charging infrastructure for charging electric trucks. “We are excited to have the first project running with our partner Kenter at this pioneer location in the Netherlands with DFDS. This shows the positive development of heavy-duty transportation towards electrification,” says Han Dix, Kempower’s Head of Sales Benelux.

The Winterswijk hub represents Kempower’s first location at DFDS in The Netherlands as well as their first collaboration with Kenter. This also marks DFDS’s debut venture into EV charging infrastructure in the Netherlands.

Rudi Talen, Head of Technical Services Buildings at DFDS in Winterswijk, added: ”For DFDS in Winterswijk, the installation of the charging infrastructure for our electric trucks marks the be-ginning of our sustainability transition regarding our fleet. The DFDS group has the ambition to be climate neutral by 2050. With our location in Winterswijk, we natu-rally contribute to this. This new sustainability initiative is an important part of that.”

Kempower supplied the state-of-the-art hardware for the Winterswijk truck charging hub, featuring their renowned DC fast charging technology. This cutting-edge infrastructure allows electric trucks to recharge quickly, minimizing downtime and allowing for the most efficient deployment of vehicles operationally. The partnership extends beyond hardware, however, as Kempower’s expertise in fast charging solutions and network management ensures seamless integration and optimal performance. Kenter handled the planning, civil work, installation, and commissioning of the charging hub. “We are proud to show that we can provide our customers, big or small, with the expertise needed to take the first step into electrifying their truck fleet.” says Han Dix from Kempower. He continues “And this is just the start as more locations are already in the planning.” Kenter will continue to accompany DFDS through maintenance of these locations.
