Kempower and Rafbox strengthen partnership with sales and service agreement in Iceland

Kempower, a leading provider of DC fast-charging solutions for electric vehicles, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Rafbox, an Icelandic EV-charging solutions provider. Under this collaboration, Rafbox becomes Kempower’s official sales and service partner in Iceland, accelerating the country’s transition to emission-free mobility. 

Rafbox plays a key role in driving Iceland’s electrification by delivering end-to-end EV charging solutions across multiple customer segments. Its services include charging infrastructure, design, installation, operation, and maintenance – ensuring a seamless experience for EV drivers and businesses alike. 

Successful partnership  

Rafbox has been working with Kempower’s charging solutions since 2022, installing more than 150 charging points across Iceland. Building on this strong foundation, the enhanced collaboration will deliver faster support and a higher level of service to both new and existing Kempower customers.

Kempower has deployed its state-of-the-art fast-charging technology, enabling efficient and reliable charging even in demanding northern weather conditions. These robust solutions make Kempower the ideal partner to support Iceland’s ambitious electric transition. 

Over the past few years Rafbox has successfully supported EV charger operators with public charging systems across Iceland – a market that continues to grow. Now, large construction companies are entering the EV space with electric trucks, excavators, and other heavy machinery, marking a major step toward sustainable transportation. 

Rafbox’s latest project highlights this shift: a charging depot for the new Mercedes eActros in Vík, 200 km from Reykjavík. These trucks deliver food and groceries daily, and the depot ensures efficient, reliable charging. Using a single Kempower Power Unit, Rafbox can power the eActros truck and four public charging points. Kempower’s modular design allows the Power Unit to be centrally located, with satellites positioned where needed – two plugs in the truck area and four for other EV drivers. 

Through this strengthened partnership, Kempower and Rafbox aim to expand their footprint in the Icelandic market by combining Kempower’s advanced hardware with Rafbox’s turnkey services. This approach ensures broad market coverage and exceptional customer experiences, from public spaces to logistics and transportation sectors.

Recognized as a trusted operator, Rafbox was awarded the “Fyrirmyndarfyrirtæki í rekstri” (Model Company in Operations) accolade in 2025. Over the past two years, Kempower and Rafbox have successfully partnered on multiple projects, and this agreement marks a significant step toward a greener future in Iceland.
