Kempower partners with Trentino Trasporti to bring fast charging to the Cavalese Intermodal Center ahead of Winter Olympics in Italy
- Kempower has supplied fast charging to power Trentino Trasporti’s new 15-strong fleet of e-buses
- The chargers are located at Trentino Trasporti’s new depot at the Cavalese Intermodal Center, a strategic mobility hub developed to support the upcoming Winter Olympics
- Kempower’s distributed charging technology facilitates optimized charging time by dynamically sharing available power according to the bus fleet’s power needs
The global DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower has partnered with public transport operator Trentino Trasporti to bring fast charging to the Cavalese Intermodal Center, a purpose-built transport hub serving the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The strategic hub consists of a modern public bus station, an underground modal-interchange parking facility with 135 spaces, and a brand-new depot for Trentino Trasporti’s new fleet of 15 emission-free buses, purchased to cater to the influx of guests visiting Trentino for the Winter Olympics.
The site has been supplied with two upgradable 500kW Kempower Power Units delivering power to 15 Kempower Satellites, with the installation delivered by contractor Ocea Bartolini of Trento. Each connector is capable of delivering up to 130kW of fast charging power to each e-bus in the fleet.
The system harnesses Kempower’s renowned distributed charging technology, which optimizes charging time by sharing power dynamically between connected vehicles in real-time. This means that the buses with the largest power demand can receive the maximum available power, facilitating quicker charging compared with systems that split the power equally.
Being part of the construction of the Cavalese Intermodal Center commissioned by Trentino Trasporti is a source of great satisfaction for me. The Kempower system installed by Ocea Bartolini is a technology to be proud of and will concretely support the electric transition in preparation for Milano Cortina 2026. Marco Bettega, Kempower’s Country Manager for Italy
With its advanced technology and strategic location in the Dolomites, the Cavalese Intermodal Center will play a central role in supporting sustainable mobility for both Milano Cortina 2026 and the future of public transport across Trentino.
