Kempower powers the Arctic Race of Norway once again – partnership continues in the world’s northernmost cycling race
Finnish DC fast-charging solutions manufacturer Kempower continues as the official charging partner of the Arctic Race of Norway, as the cycling race is held in Northern Norway on 13–16 August 2026. This year’s 13th edition of the Arctic Race of Norway takes place entirely above the Arctic Circle, on an island-hopping route through the Nordland region, the Ofoten district, and the main islands of the Vesterålen archipelago. The entire service and caravan fleet of the race runs fully electric, with 130 electric vehicles provided by Hyundai to be charged throughout this year’s event. The race is organized by Arctic Sport and Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), also known as the organizer of, among others, the Tour de France.
The Arctic Race of Norway 2026 consists of four stages with a combined length of approximately 694 kilometres and features 18 teams, including 6 World Teams, made up of some of the world’s best cyclists. The overall winner is not expected to be decided until the closing days of the race: on stage three, the climb to the summit of Storheia has earned the nickname “the Norwegian Mont Ventoux,” while the decisive climb of the final stage finishes at the Narvik ski resort. Combined with the changeable weather conditions of the Arctic summer and the constantly shifting island route, the race is exceptionally demanding for both the athletes and the entire support organization.
This year, the Arctic Race of Norway is also taking a major technological leap in how it is broadcast to the world. For the first time, TV production will be primarily based on mobile networks, using 4G and 5G technology. In 2025, the race was broadcast in 190 countries through 80 broadcasters.
Kempower has provided the race’s charging infrastructure for several years, and the collaboration has deepened year by year: in 2023, the race became the first UCI-series cycling event to switch to a fully electric fleet. Kempower’s Movable Chargers and charging team follow the race caravan from stage to stage, keeping more than a hundred electric vehicles continuously charged – even in areas where permanent DC charging infrastructure is not yet available. The charging setup is planned and carried out in close cooperation with local grid operators and the race organizers well ahead of the event.
