Ledermair is electrifying the largest e-bus depot in Tyrol with Kempower and vlotte vkw

The bus company Ledermair has commissioned the largest e-bus depot in Tyrol, Austria, setting a crucial milestone for emission-free public transportation in the region. Together with global DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower and implementation partner vlotte vkw, it has built a state-of-the-art facility, precisely tailored to the intensive daily requirements of the electric bus fleet.

A total charging capacity of 2.4 megawatts provides maximum operational reliability and efficiency for the regional public transportation network. Installation partner vlotte vkw installed 28 Kempower charging points, which are powered by four Kempower Power Units. Scheduled charging and targeted battery preconditioning of the buses reduce operating costs from the outset and ensure grid-optimized charging processes.

Thanks to its modular design, the charging infrastructure offers maximum scalability for future fleet growth: the Kempower Power Units can be upgraded to 600 kW each and the system can easily be expanded to 32 charging points. Dynamic load distribution and comprehensive charging management are efficiently and precisely controlled via ChargEye, Kempower’s cloud-based charging management system.

„Other market solutions were unsuitable for the specific spatial requirements at the depot, whereas the highly flexible Kempower hardware was ideal for us,” explains Philipp Österle, Managing Director of vlotte vkw. „Thanks to our experience in the field, we were able to install the systems quickly and without any problems.”

For Ledermair, the commissioning of the depot represents an investment in the future and underlines its commitment to zero-emission transport. „The decision to go with Kempower was an easy one, as the systems impress with excellent safety features and uncompromising reliability,“ explains Alexander Ledermair, Managing Director of Ledermair. „The technology has proven itself in the market and provides us with precisely the adaptability we need here on site. We are very satisfied – the charging systems are performing superbly in daily operation. Working together is seamless, and the successful installation represents a huge step into the future for us.“
