Kempower charges EVs at COP26, the world’s largest climate change event

Kempower’s Movable DC EV chargers were used to charge the vehicles used to transport world leaders and dignitaries to and from COP26 – the world’s largest climate change event – held at the SEC Center in Glasgow from October 31 to November 13, 2021. The UK distributor of Kempower’s products, Vital EV, supplied Sunbelt Rentals with the chargers.

Providing up to 40kW of mobile DC charging, the Kempower Movable Charger is the ideal solution for temporary EV charging. Thanks to its lightweight design and robust wheels, the Kempower Movable Charger can be transported easily around charging sites and car parks, while the weatherproof design allows for both indoor and outdoor operation.

The Kempower Movable charger is fitted with dual CCS ports for simultaneous charging and features the company’s charge management software ChargEye, which allows users to monitor and control each charger individually. As well as displaying live charge data, Kempower ChargEye also enables users to schedule charge times, remote operation, configure charge prioritization and download usage reports.

We’re thrilled that the EVs that transported delegates around COP26, one of the most critical events for global climate action in history, were charged by Kempower Movable Chargers. Our technology and solutions are charging a better future and helping achieve our vision of a society powered by fully electric transportation. Making the world cleaner and more sustainable is at the heart of what we do and matches our long-term ambition of becoming a 100% carbon neutral business by 2035.

Tomi Ristimäki, CEO of Kempower

Climate change is an issue that is very close to our hearts, so we are proud to have supplied the Kempower Movable Charger to such a high-profile and global event. As a company that works hard to provide tailor-made solutions for businesses choosing to electrify their fleet and reduce their carbon footprint, we look forward to further commitments from global leaders to environmentally-friendly and sustainable transport.

Nic Rae, Managing Director of Vital EV

Kempower’s products were a perfect fit for COP26, with the company recently releasing its first-ever sustainability statement. This pledge included setting an ambitious target of achieving a 99% end of lifetime recyclability rate for all its products, with its Movable charger already reaching a recyclability rate of 99.61%.
