HEINEKEN and Einride joined forces to revolutionize freight mobility with Kempower DC charging solutions
HEINEKEN and Einride have joined forces to revolutionize freight mobility by electrifying their operation with Kempower DC charging solutions. This innovative approach will transform the freight operation between HEINEKEN’s Den Bosch brewery and its distribution center in Duisburg, Germany, by using renewable energy sources. By taking this bold step, the companies anticipate cutting CO2 emissions by approximately 930 tonnes annually, bringing HEINEKEN closer to achieving its net-zero carbon emission goal by 2024.
Arjen van der Woude, HEINEKEN’s Director Strategic Sourcing Supply Chain, said: “Decarbonization of logistics will play a key role in achieving HEINEKEN’s net-zero commitments. At this stage, battery electric is one of the best-positioned technologies to decarbonize road freight.”
Kicking off the project, a fleet of 5 Mercedes eActros 300 trucks will be set up to transport ten full truck loads daily, covering a distance of 540km per truck. Supported by the Kempower DC charging infrastructure featuring integrated Saga technology, this initiative has the ability to reduce the brewery’s CO2 emissions by up to 95% when compared to diesel-driven alternatives.
We at Kempower are happy about the great business relationship we have built with Einride and cannot wait for more exciting projects ahead!
