Our technology is designed to meet the unique challenges of the port industry, ensuring seamless and efficient operations,” said Jesse Makkonen, Segment Owner for Marine & Port at Kempower.
Why should ports electrify?
Electrifying ports offer substantial benefits, including reduced emissions, improved economic output, and enhanced quality of life for local communities. The transition to battery electric power for heavy-duty machinery in ports can help achieve emissions reduction targets, while also providing lower operating costs and reducing noise and air pollution.
Despite concerns about cost and diverse operational needs, advancements in technology and charging solutions, such as those developed by Kempower, are making this transition feasible and cost-effective. With immediate availability of battery electric solutions and ongoing development of open charging standards, now is the ideal time for port operators to commit to electrification and contribute significantly to net zero goals.
Kempower offers charging solutions suitable for both small and large port machines, as well as trucks visiting ports. The company’s charging solutions, known for having the smallest footprint on the market, are designed to fit into tight spaces. They are modular, scalable, reliable, and provide an enhanced user experience to ensure efficient cargo movement. The Kempower ChargEye charging management system increases the utilization of the machine fleet and integrates chargers into the upper-level software systems.
