Boosting Croatia’s and Slovenia’s EV charging infrastructure

Kempower has partnered with Austrian-based charging infrastructure company, TurboVolt, to booster public EV charging infrastructure in Croatia and Slovenia. The initial phase of the project equips three key locations with high-speed charging hubs: Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Zagreb and Zadar, Croatia. These strategically chosen hubs will be situated in Supernova shopping centres, providing convenient charging options near major highways for EV drivers on the go.

Each TurboVolt hub will be equipped with 12 Kempower charging satellites, capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power, ensuring rapid charging times. The user-friendly design and contactless payment solutions offered by TurboVolt guarantee a seamless charging experience.

This project represents the initial phase of a wider rollout plan with Supernova and at other locations in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Slovakia. TurboVolt has secured agreements for a total of 300 chargers across the region, with aspirations to reach over 1,000 within the next five years. This significant expansion reflects a commitment to building a charging network that will support the increasing adoption of electric vehicles and supports the region’s transition to electric mobility.

While the EU ban on the sale of new combustion engine cars from 2035 applies to all member states, not all regions have made equal progress when it comes to the adoption of EVs and the implementation of the necessary charging infrastructure.

“We’re proud to contribute to TurboVolt’s mission of providing public fast-charging infrastructure in Central and South Eastern Europe. Retailers like Supernova play a key role in promoting e-mobility and making it convenient and accessible for drivers,” says Igor Ban, Head of Business Development CEE & SEE at Kempower.

Kempower’s charging experience in the field means we know we’ll be able to provide reliable infrastructure to Supernova’s customers, who will have access to contactless payments and our user-friendly app showing live charge point availability, prices and speed and customer service support,” adds Anthony Hinde, CEO of TurboVolt.
