Kempower strengthens Southeast Asia service capabilities through partner WBG’s new regional facility in Malaysia

Kempower’s long-time partner WBG has opened a new regional support facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to strengthen local engineering capabilities and provide enhanced technical support for Kempower’s charging solutions across Southeast Asia.

With this facility, WBG is now better positioned to offer faster response times, tailored technical support, and increased flexibility for Kempower’s regional projects – reinforcing our commitment to delivering scalable, reliable, and modular EV charging infrastructure throughout Southeast Asia.

A multipurpose facility for scalable growth

The facility functions as a multipurpose hub supporting the full operational lifecycle of Kempower’s charging systems. It will manage the storage of new equipment and spare parts, pre-assembly of modular solutions, product repairs and refurbishments, and the reverse logistics process for returned components. A dedicated testing bench ensures interoperability between control power units, satellites, and communication systems – enabling seamless on-site deployments. The site is also prepared for the future integration of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), reflecting WBG and Kempower’s shared commitment to modular and scalable energy infrastructure.

The facility will serve as a regional training centre – providing local technicians with the skills and knowledge required to install, maintain and service Kempower’s high-performance charging systems for all the lifecycle offering possibilities to retrofit, maintain and modernize the installation based on customer demand.

Powering the Hanoi–Singapore Express Highway

Kempower is proud to play a leading role in the Hanoi–Singapore Express Highway, one of Southeast Asia’s most ambitious EV charging initiatives. Spanning Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore, the project supports long-distance EV travel through a network of 13 Kempower-equipped charging sites delivered with our regional partners.

Out of the 13 Kempower-equipped charging sites developed along the corridor through regional partners, one of the most strategically important sites on the route is in Tangkak, Malaysia. With a 400 kW Kempower charging system and consistently high utilisation, it plays a vital role in connecting Kuala Lumpur with Singapore. To support our operations at this site, WBG has delivered local engineering, installation, and service under Kempower’s guidance – ensuring high uptime, smooth operation, and a dependable customer experience.

This site stands as a strong example of how Kempower’s modular technology, combined with regional execution through trusted partners like WBG, is enabling real-world electrification across Southeast Asia.

Supporting Kempower’s growth with strong local expertise

As Kempower continues to grow across Southeast Asia, WBG plays a key role in delivering local, on-the-ground support. Their technical expertise – from project coordination to engineering design and service – helps ensure our charging solutions are deployed smoothly and operate reliably in the field. Their ability to adapt technology to regional conditions allows us to move faster and respond better to our customers’ needs.

Strengthening Kempower’s presence in Southeast Asia

With this new facility, Kempower can offer more responsive, locally anchored support to fleets, charge point operators, and infrastructure developers across the region. It is a concrete step in building a stronger service network and reflects our long-term commitment to supporting the transition to electric transport throughout Southeast Asia.
