Kempower becomes the main partner for the Easter Tournament – one of Finland’s largest junior basketball tournaments
Kempower and Lahti Basketball Juniors invite children and youth to play basketball in Lahti during Easter 2024. With the new collaboration between Lahti Basketball Juniors and Kempower, one of Finland’s largest junior basketball tournaments will bear Kempower’s name in the coming years. The Kempower Easter Tournament is arranged in Lahti every Easter. This year, the tournament will take place between March 29-March 31, with 200 teams already registered from five different countries.
“We want to bring joy and fun to children’s and teenagers’ basketball. Basketball is a fantastic team sport through which children learn skills that are beneficial in other areas of life as well. Basketball requires courage, teamwork, and integrity, all of which are also Kempower’s values,” says Paula Savonen, VP, Communications, Kempower.
“Supporting the Kempower Easter Tournament and Lahti Basketball Juniors fits well for us, as Kempower has its roots in Lahti, and many Kempowerians have either played in the tournament themselves or followed the Easter games in the stands. Many of us also work as volunteers in various roles during the tournament,” Savonen continues.
“We are very excited about the upcoming collaboration with Kempower. Unfortunately, children, youth, and adults are exercising too little nowadays, and all positive sports experiences are like investing in the future. It’s fantastic that Kempower is joining us to develop the tournament and spread the joy of sports, basketball, and physical activity throughout Finland and abroad! The goal is to create even better basketball tournament experiences for the participants,” says Jimi Koskinen, Managing Director of Lahti Basketball Juniors.
The Kempower Easter Tournament features games from U8-7 Super Micros to adults, with series for boys and girls, men and women of various skill levels and ages. The tournament attracts basketball players from all over Finland and abroad to spend the Easter in Lahti. The heart of the tournament is the Lahti Suurhalli, where, in addition to games on over 10 courts, various side activities are organized. Last Easter, a total of 238 teams from Finland and abroad participated in the tournament.
