Sweden’s largest private charging station for electric trucks to be built in Gothenburg

Rapid EV charging technology provider Kempower will supply 15 fast-charging stations for Sweden’s biggest and most powerful charging station for electric trucks. Swedish company Göteborgs Lastbilcentral (GLC) has started construction of the hub, which will cost just over SEK 8 million and open by the end of 2022.

The electric truck charging station’s location in Gothenburg has been carefully considered and meets the needs of GLC’s partners and drivers for accessibility and planning. Drivers can pay for charging via a dedicated app or their regular fuel card.

The new GLC charging hub is another example of how the electrification of truck and logistics operations can be achieved through Nordic cooperation. Our comprehensive, cloud-based Kempower ChargEye charging management system is specifically designed to optimize the total cost of ownership for operators. A key factor for GLC was the dynamic charging of vehicles, meeting both overnight and daytime charging needs.

Tomi Ristimäki, CEO of Kempower

We’re delighted to be able to make it easier for our partners to choose more sustainable transport solutions. This charging hub is a milestone for us and a piece of the puzzle in the paradigm shift that is taking place in the transport sector. We will reduce fossil CO2 emissions by 70% by 2026 compared to 2010, while we are also aiming to be climate neutral by 2035. These dates are ahead of the national targets of 2030 and 2045, respectively.

Martin Salenius, CEO of GLC

GLC is incredibly professional to work with. The charging solution is very advanced, GLC has thought it through. The hardware from Kempower is top-notch and cutting-edge. We’re very proud and excited to be part of GLC’s future development.
